Protect your TV During your Move09/24/2017An awful thing that sometimes happens when you’re moving is finding out your TV was broken. Here at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it really sucks to be at your new house with a ruined TV. We want to make your move as stressless as it can be here in El Paso, whether you are moving somewhere locally or long distance. We know how hard it can be, so we write up some tips and tricks to use when you are packing up your TV. First and foremost, you will have to have a box that’s the right size for moving your television. Using the box and packaging that it came in is a great idea – if you still have it. If you threw it out, you can find a box made specially for moving flat-panel TVs from a hardware store or a moving supply company. You should use a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to bounce around when it’s inside. To move fragile and expensive items requires packing and preparation knowledge, not just moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers is excited to help you with your move in any and every way you need, even if it’s just securing your TV and making sure it’s packaged up correctly. Before anything else, a great thing to do is snap a few pictures of the back of your TV with all of the cords still plugged in. This will make your life way easier when it’s time to reinstall your television. After this, you can start getting your TV ready to pack. First disconnect the power cord, then unplug any other connecting wires and cords. Place all of it in a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. There might be a base you need to take off of the television so you can pack it. If this is the case, put all the parts inside a reclosable bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so it won’t get lost. After getting all of the cords and wires separated from the TV, you can get the TV all packed up. No matter if you are moving far from El Paso or you are just moving locally, it’s very important to see that your television is properly covered. You should use foam pieces to protect the TV screen, there will be some in your kit if you decided to buy one, or in the box that your TV was in originally if you still have that. The foam not only keeps the screen from being scratched, but it also will keep your television from bumping around in the box during the move. You can secure the foam pieces by using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and prevent it from getting scratched. After your TV is completely covered up it’s up to you to place it inside of the box! Keep it upright as you do this, and secure it by filling in any spaces with blankets or even clothes. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in its box. Finally, get the box in the truck, or let the movers do it for you. Set the box upright and try to put it agaist other flat surfaced, secure items, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Remember to put your cables by the TV, in a bag taped to the side or in another box. Once that’s done you’re all ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in El Paso to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.
