Protect your TV During your Move09/24/2017An awful thing that can happen when you move is finding out your TV was broken. Here at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it really sucks to break your TV during the move. We want to do everything we can to make your move as stressless as it can be here in El Paso, whether you are moving somewhere locally or long distance. We know how hard it can be, so we’ve create a list of tips and tricks to use when you are getting your TV ready for the move. First and foremost, you will have to have a box that’s the right size for moving your television. A great idea is to use the TV’s original packaging – if you still have it. If not,, you can find a package designed for moving flat-panel TVs from either a hardware store or a moving supply company. You should use a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to bounce around when it’s inside. To move fragile and expensive items requires packing and moving experience, not only moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers is excited to help you with your move in any and every way you need, even if it’s just securing your TV and making sure it’s packaged up correctly. Before you start packing it up, a great thing to do is snap a few pictures of the back of your TV with all of the cords still plugged in. This will make your life way easier when it’s time to reinstall your television. After this, start getting your TV ready to pack. First disconnect the main power cord, then take out any other connecting wire. Place all of it in a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. You may have a base you need to separate from the television so you can fit it in the box. If this is the case, put all screws and other parts inside a reclosable bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so all the parts stay in one place. After getting all of the cords and wires separated from the TV, you can get the TV all packed up. No matter if you are moving far from El Paso or you are simply moving locally, it’s very important to see that your television is properly covered. You should use foam pieces to protect the TV screen, there will be some in your kit if you decided to buy one, or in the box that your TV came in if you still have that. The foam doesn’t just keep the screen from being scratched, but it also will keep your television from bumping around in the box during the move. You can secure the foam pieces by using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and prevent it from getting scratched. After your TV is all covered up it’s up to you to place it inside of the box! Keep it upright when you do this, and secure it by filling in any spaces with blankets. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in its box. Finally, get the box in the truck, or let the movers do it for you. Keep the box upright and put it agaist other flat surfaced, sturdy items, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Remember to put the cables by the TV, whether they’re in a bag taped to the side or in another box. Once that’s done you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in El Paso to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.
